Buddhify 2: An app that will send you to sleep for the right reasons

If you’ve ever found yourself passing through the mental health care system there a few words known to make you roll your eyes.. “think about using deep breathing”, “have you thought about meditation”, “have you been practicing mindfulness”, and “practice being present in the moment”. These things are easier said than done, and probably seem like un-stimulating practices for anybody. Not to mention that some cultures dedicate their life to practicing meditation, but you can only make the Monday night class twice a month.

For the first time, I have found an app that almost makes meditation seem appealing and retains my attention for more than two minutes. Buddhify have created a visually attractive app that fits in to the life of the modern on the go human, they call it modern mindfulness. You can select from 14 different situations which you find yourself in at the time, for example when you are about to go to bed, or when you are on a lunch break at work. Buddhify then provides a number of different guided meditations for you to choose from of varying durations, and away you go to relaxation.

I’ve been using this app for a number of weeks now, and I’m not an easy customer, but I must say that I am impressed with Buddhify 2. I’ve played the 5 minute track for sleep so many times that I now know the sequence off by heart, and if anything after a while when the woman gives instructions its annoying because she’s interrupting my zen. If you have never found success with mindfulness in the past, then this app might put you on the right path.

Buddhify 2 is available for iOS (Mac) priced at £1.49
