If you’re in need of some inspiration to get fit and active, John Harrison can provide just that.

The inspirational swimmer is looking to break a world record by entering into the 100-104 year age category at a local swimming event. John is looking to add to his previous 70 records as Britain’s top senior swimmer.

Farnborough born John has said that ‘the main reason for entering the competition was to try to encourage others to be active’ and stated “I always say if an old sod like me can do it, anyone can do it.”

If you’re thinking that it’s too late to take up sport, think again – John only took up swimming when he was 78. On his first swim John was beaten but he did not give up, he improved over the years and now has the records to show it!

For anyone looking to start swimming at Masters level, John gives this advice: ‘Keep doing your best, if you come in last, so what? You have done it to the envy of others who don’t try.”
