OMsignal – For A Higher Performing You

With wearable tech on the rise, most wearables are in the form of wristbands, However, OMsignal have developed a wearable bio-sensor compression shirt which aims to revolutionise the users understanding of their body and help to elevate their performance. Ultimately, it looks to provide the user with all the information they need to be fully in control of their workout.

The user simply wears a bio-sensing shirt which connects to a ‘black box’ data module to collect data on quite literally, their every move. It captures breathing data directly from the user’s chest and a full ECG from the heart and then syncs wirelessly to an app on the user’s phone, which clearly displays their data and also provides suggestions on how they can improve their workout.

The OMsignal measures a variety of parameters including heart rate, breathing rate, breathing depth, activity intensity, steps taken, calories burned and heart rate variability. All of which are useful when it comes to monitoring health and performance.

Although the OMsignal provides a great way to monitor health, fitness and performance, the user has to wear a bio-sensing shirt at all times when they wish to collect data, whether this be whilst working out or even throughout the day – something which might not always be so practical.

In addition to this, the black box is on the bulky side and the app is only available on Android. It’s also essential to remove the data module before putting the shirt in the wash, as it isn’t completely waterproof, which also makes it unsuitable for water based activities.

Shipping this summer, OMsignal can currently be pre-ordered for around £120. However, the women’s alternative won’t be available until the end of the year.

Whilst the OMsignal adds further variety to the amount of wearable tech out on the market, its hard think it could take over the popularity of the wristband trackers out there. Despite this, for the avid gym goer or serious athlete the OMsignal could be a worthwhile purchase when it comes to performance enhancement.
