PUSH: The First Tracker to Measure Strength

With so many activity trackers on the market, differentiation is becoming important in the world of wearable tech. PUSH has seemingly achieved this, claiming to be the first wearable activity tracker to automatically measure strength.

Designed with the gym in mind, PUSH straps to the users arm and uses its built in accelerometer and gyroscope to track reps & sets, force, power, balance, speed, explosive strength, 1 rep max, volume load and tempo. This data is then fed back to the user’s smartphone where it is displayed on an accompanying app, allowing users to customise workouts, set training goals and review and monitor performance over time. All of which can be shared with a coach, trainer or friends.

Although the downside of PUSH is that users have to wear it around their arm during a workout, and initially input their workout manually, including the exercises they will complete and at what weight, the data it provides seems worth it. It can help users to identify the right amount of weight to get the most of out their workout, as well as reducing injury risk.

Not only is push great for the average person’s workout, it can also be used as a coaching tool and has had growing interest from a number of top level athletes and teams within the NFL, NHL and MLB.

Shipping this summer at around £90, the device has a relatively low price tag in relation to most wearable tech on the market, and also offers something new. PUSH could certainly be a hit for aiding workouts, enhancing performance and reducing injury risk.
