Climbax - Climbing Tracker

It seems that soon there will be a tracking device for every type of activity out there… as a tracking device for yet another sport is being developed! Climbax is a training aid for climbers, which uses two bands worn on the wrists to track climbing activity.

Climbax uses its embedded motion sensors to measure training volume, timing and technique and it also compares performance between sessions. This provides a way to identify aspects of training and climbing performance that climbers aren’t usually aware of.

The data collected by the Climbax bands is uploaded, analysed and displayed on the Climbax website, where the user can track their progress and improvement over time. The Climbax is still lacking an app and unfortunately the wrist bands don’t give you any data themselves, so the benefits of real-time feedback are certainly missed with this tracker.

Whilst the Climbax is still in its development, it failed to reach the target of its Kickstarter campaign and so the release of Climbax is expected to take a while longer.

Climbax provides a way to measure climbing activity which is often overlooked and is something which other trackers on the market can’t provide. It aims to improve performance for all climbers, from beginners to those who are more advanced. At a £120 price for two trackers, it is at a pretty competitive price point for two trackers on the current market.  A great idea for serious climbers, it will be interesting to see the uptake across the world of climbing.
