Wello - Taking a Snapshot of Health

‘Say hello to Wello’, the health tracker that lets you take a snapshot of your health. Doubling as a phone case, Wello offers a simple and effective way to measure heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, blood oxygen level and temperature. Lung function can also be measured by clipping on an add-on spirometer to the side of the case.

Simply by holding it as if you’re taking a picture, the device will use its hidden sensors to start collecting these measurements. The information collected is then synched via Bluetooth with an app to give real-time feedback, which can then be tracked over time.

The data collected provides a baseline to help an individual to identify any abnormalities or changes, and this data can be shared with medical professionals too. Wello is set for release this summer and will allow users to integrate data with other devices including activity trackers.

Wello claims to do all this with ‘medical grade accuracy’ and if this can be confirmed it could certainly provide a quick and cost-effective way to measure and track different aspects of health. Additionally, as convenient as the device may be by doubling up as a phone case, durability has to be questioned. It could just turn out to be an expensive phone case for the serial phone dropper.

As with most tracking tech, it comes at a cost – setting you back £120.  With the measurements it can provide it may be a worthwhile investment for those looking for a way to better manage their health.
