Resound Linx has recently launched the ‘world’s smartest hearing aid’, which links directly to iPhones, iPods and iPads through Bluetooth connection. This wearable tech is usable for anyone with a hearing impairment. Whilst acting as a hearing aid, it also turns an iOS device into a remote to allow the user to adjust the sound settings as and when they wish. The device then remembers the settings for next time you’re in that location through tagging its GPS location.
The device’s slim and small design is also durable and water resistant. It’s not only discreet to wear but it also makes changing sound settings less obvious in public situations. The Resound Linx also boasts excellent sound quality and audibility from both sounds picked up from the environment as well as those wirelessly streamed from an iOS device.
The smartest aspect of the Resound Linx is its ability to connect with iPhones and other iOS devices to allow the user to listen directly to audio from Apps, calls, FaceTime and iTunes. In addition to all these features, the GPS function also acts as a locator if the device is lost.
Not surprisingly, this technology obviously comes at a price – around £2000. However, any device that can potentially increase quality of life by a lot is worth considering. Also, as technologies become more adopted the price often drops – here’s hoping…
