Are you one of those people who like to carefully inspect and compare seven different cuts of meat before selecting one to purchase? If so, then the TellSpec device could be for you.
TellSpec is a small handheld spectrometer, which when synchronised with your smart phone, can tell you the contents of the food or drink you are scanning, even through plastic and glass packaging. This includes information on allergens, chemicals, nutrients, calories, and ingredients. This is useful if you don’t trust food labels, want to be sure your product is gluten free, or want a product low in sodium.
In addition to this identification, TellSpec can track your daily nutritional intake, and provides education on each of the ingredients you scan. It tracks how many nutrients and toxins you are consuming, helping you to stay within safe limits. You can also report how you feel after each meal, helping to identify any food sensitivities.
TellSpec is an expensive venture for the budding dietary tracking enthusiast, and is available for pre-order from $525(£316), to be shipped later this year.
