There are so many tracking devices available on the market today, but BellaBeat offers a heart-warming addition to tracking tech; allowing a pregnant mum to ‘connect’ with their unborn baby and track their pregnancy from home.
Bellabeat has created a device and app system that enables a mum-to-be to both track and share their pregnancy experiences – they can even visualise and listen to their baby’s heartbeat through the included handheld Doppler ultrasound that links to the user’s smartphone.
Bellabeat has a number of other features, allowing users to track their unborn baby’s movement and keep a kickcounter chart. In addition to this, the app provides a way to track pregnancy weight gain, organise prenatal care, keep a pregnancy diary, find information on pregnancy, and interact with other expecting women as part of the Bellabeat community.
A new update on the Bellabeat app now offers a mood-tracking feature to help stop early symptoms of depression, which can be common during pregnancy. Users can track changes in mood and feelings and the app will advise the user to seek help from medical professionals if early signs occur.
However, the obvious issue with this technology is it may cause worry if expecting parents become concerned when tracking their unborn baby’s heartbeat, but on the other hand, it could provide important information during pregnancy which might otherwise have gone unnoticed. One thing the app is missing is a contraction timer, something other apps offer for free. Also, handheld ultrasound devices can be bought much cheaper, although without smartphone compatibility.
Selling at around £70, Bellabeat offers a tracking device like none we have come across before. If there’s going to be a time when someone wants to track everything going on with their body, it’s during pregnancy.
